Welcome to VampWriters! Pull up a chair, sit back, and add your 14 cents worth when you feel so inspired.

Let's be honest here...vampire fiction is hot! It seems as though it never loses its appeal entirely, either.

Many of us are authors wanting to create our own Great Vampire Novel. We have something we want to say and we feel that we're exploring alleys that previous vampire fiction haven't yet touched, and that's great.

The vampire mythos isn't set in stone. Just look at the variations of the story that we have been given in fiction and screen from the original novel by Bram Stoker, "Dracula", to the German silent film "Nosferatu", to the film version of "Dracula" to George Hamilton's version of the famous Count to the Lost Boys, Spike, Angel, Mick St John, Edward Cullen (and family) and more.

Each has added or removed a facet of the vampire mythos. We may agree with or dislike the alterations and additions people make in their own works, but that's the wonder of writing. There is nothing that decrees that things should be any particular way. We are free to write what we want, as long as we don't step on any copyrighted toes (for the record, Bram Stoker's original "Dracula" hasn't had copyright protection for a very long time now, if ever. Some authors, such as P.N. Elrod, with her novel "Quincey Morris, Vampire", have taken advantage of this situation to create continuations of that novel or flights of fancy with characters therein. These new works ARE copyrighted, however.)

Are you writing vampire fiction? Are you interested in writing vampire fiction? Are you looking for ideas, someone to bounce ideas off of, or people who will give you honest opinions (helpful criticism).

Here we will discuss things like publishing options (there are many options out there besides having to fork out money up front to a vanity publisher), character development, marketing and more.

Sorry, but this is not a place for fanfiction. Works that violate copyright laws will be removed.

Hum... Cool! Geez I wish I had time to read all these books! Between my manga reviews, writing and podcasting I'm missing all the good ones! Grrrr...

Both, actually. Anita tells the story, but the story involves vamps, shifters of all sorts, magic and more.

It's 18 books strong right now, with number 19 in the wings.

The story has changed a lot in the time since she started it. Anita has changed a lot as a person between Guilty Pleasures and the current book.

I'm loving watching her evolution as time has gone on. She's a really kickass character, in more ways than one LOL

What's the concept. Is it vamp pov? Or Hunter?

I've read them all...more than once. A lot more than once.

She's got a new one coming out in the next month or two...more of a novella, but since it's another Anita Blake novel, who the hell cares? LOL

So what about the Blue Bloods novels? Like them?
I wrote reviews on two of them.

Yeah, Alucard is the "good guy", as it were. "Hellsing" is the name of the organization that deals with ghouls and vampires who have gotten completely out of hand. The head of the Hellsing organization is Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing (female, but the Japanese seem to be a tad confused about such things)

The first anime, simply called "Hellsing", veered wildly from the manga and ended with an interesting question.

The second anime, called "Hellsing Ultimate" to differentiate it from the first attempt, follows the manga quite closely.

You really can't call Alucard a "good" vampire, but you might be comfortable thinking of him as "lawful evil" (Dungeons and Dragons terms).

The manga-ka (manga artist) took what seemed forever to finish the series, but he finally did. Quite honestly, I miss it -- but then, I'm a vampire addict.

What can I say?

Omg... I just wrote this hella long post and then the screen froze & erased it... SO BUMMED... Let me recap.

No, I haven't read Hellsing cause I thought it was slayer view point... but someone told me it isn't.

I have it on my list to get after I widdle down my two waist-high piles I have to review for dashPunk.com.

I had to stop buying! It was getting out of control. Hhehee.
