Welcome Kate! I'm a big-time lurker on most boards as well, though I feel like I know these ladies so well that I enjoy talking here. Everyone is very supportive.

Renee, thanks for the response to the story. Getting feedback is rare and precious. Thank you for comparing the story to one of Stephen King's! I'm proud of _Graveyard Shift_ and it taught me a lot about sound effects.

Emz, I'm going to stop by SL to see you today. Good luck!

It has been interesting using SL more. Seeing Arlene and Rhonda do their readings was fascinating. It makes so much sense to go and present somewhere that anyone in the world can join in. I just wish I had more time, but I try to visit in the evenings.

I loved doing the WWW contest but I especially liked the energy and interaction it generated. I'd be interested in doing something that was a collaboration. Let me know if you have ideas.

Welcome, Kate! Good to meet you. Have you listened to the stories, yet? If not, you're in for a treat!

Arlene- Great poem! Imagination and empathy are very powerful when it comes to creating stories. I go places in my mind that thankfully, I haven't had to really explore. It surprises me, however, how many people assume that an writer's fiction is autobiographical. I'll send you the story. It's called "Monster".

Rhonda- Sounds like you all are enjoying Second Life. When I finally leave the stone age and get high speed I want to come over and check it out! Are you going to EMZ's signing in person? I live up in the Sierra Foothills and Concord isn't that far but both kids' have parties tomorrow night so there's no way. Enjoy!

EMZ- You have fun tomorrow night too!

Wow, look at me I am days behind in WWW.
First Welcome Kate! Glad to have you aboard!
Second R.E. Thank you for your gushing as you called it. Yes my story was extremely disturbing. I should have come with a warning. Maybe just a touch too real. But I think it met horror if only in its last line. LOL
Arlene's reading was great and I did mine today in SL. Emz has a full day at her tent tomorrow so I will be in and out of SL.

Onward to a Killer signing this Friday Emz. We are all so Proud of you!

Catch you gals on the flip!

Waving madly at Michele!

R.E. Thank you so much for your comments. Compliments from fellow author are always very special. And as for you imagination, have you read my poem, Forever? I recorded it and Emz played it on her show. It is about an abused wife. I have not been abused--in this life--however our imagination and what we have read can carry us into those minds. You can go hear it here http://www.radasky.com/Site/Blog,_poetry_and_short_stories/Entries/2009/4/19_Forever_released_again!.html

I would love to read your story.

Kate Comment by Kate on October 28, 2009 at 6:28pm
Hi I just joined the group and have been doing some lurking. I thought I should probably introduce myself. I write horror/dark fantasy. I've written short stories and screenplays and now I'm working on a novel. I noticed in a recent post that you had a contest. I'd love to hear the stories. Where can I find them?
R.E. Chambliss Comment by R.E. Chambliss on October 28, 2009 at 5:49pm
Okay, one more thing and then I'll shut up. It was the concept of my Halloween story that was disturbing. There wasn't anything explicitly stated, it was only implied. But considering the subject matter, that was enough to creep people out!
R.E. Chambliss Comment by R.E. Chambliss on October 28, 2009 at 5:04pm
Now I've listened to all of the stories. Wow! I know I'm way late on this, but I still wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed them.

Arlene- I'm always drawn to first person narratives, and I loved how well you spoke in Eva's voice. I also thought it was a really interesting concept--people in those kinds of controlling, abusive relationships being able to use the computer as a window out to the world.

Michele- The way you wove the three women's situations together was terrific. I agree with EMZ and Laurel--I loved how they all got together to comiserate!

Rhonda- Awesome! The production quality was stellar and you gave such a good reading. I had a similar experience with writing a story that was almost too real and entering it in a contest. I ended up having to withdraw it because it was so disturbing--not gory or violent but the protagonist was a male pedophile who loved Halloween because it gave him the opportunity to lure kids into his house. The contest was for Momwriters and after I sent it off I thought, "They might be pretty creeped out to see this coming anonymously through the internet." So I wrote the woman coordinating the contest and told her she could pull it. She was relieved! Now, you guys don't really know me either, but I swear I'm a woman and a mom and just have a vivid imagination! I still can't read that story without cringing! Anyway, Rhonda, your story was vivid and compelling. Great job!

Heather- Congratulations! So spooky and creepy and the plot was so surprising. I also was impressed by your reading and production quality. It reminded me of a Stephen King short stories, and I think he writes terrific short stories!

And EMZ I'm so impressed with your show and your commentary. It's so cool that you spottlighted the Wicked Women Writers like that. It really inspired me and made me want to write a husband killing story! Laurel sounded like such a neat woman. She was great on the show too.

Okay, have I gushed enough? I was very impressed with all of you! Well done!

Michele- What does he do for you? I'm glad he's not that pricy, but I think I'll have to stick to doing it myself for now.

Emz- I'm embarrassed to admit that I only just yesterday listened to my first Horror Addict podcast--the Wicked Women Writers episode, of course. It was great! I loved the format and hearing all of your voices. Oh and I agree with Arlene, great new graphic!

And now I have to admit my REALLY shameful secret--I have dial up! So it limits what I can do online. I'm thinking I need to change that. I've made do with cafe and library wifi--for uploading and downloading, but if I want to be able to participate more fully in the online world, it's clear I need high speed.

Arlene- How did the reading go?
